Please say a huge Welcome Back to Robert Carter (Bobby), a dancer of Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo for 20 years! He has returned once again to the UK to perform with the company and spoke to us about the many changes that have happened since his last visit to London 5 years ago!

Hello Dance Consortium UK!

It’s been five years since our last visit to London and I am so having the greatest time! We’ve already finished our first week with program A and this week is flying by as quickly as the first. I suppose it’s because the audiences and the reviews have been so great that coming to work is a lot of fun, as the old saying goes…

So much has happened since our last visit such as the passage into law allowing marriage equality in the U.S. Not so long after that did Trockadero dancers Carlos Hopuy and Paolo Cervellera got married. And last month, my partner Elmaz and I also tied the knot. And next we’ll all soon celebrate more Trockadero dancers Chase Johnsey and Carlos Renedo’s nuptials. It is so wonderful that we all have this cherished freedom. Equality will hopefully one day sweep the world over, but until then, I’ll gladly accept the progress being made.

Over our last break before this tour, in addition to getting married (smile!), I picked up drawing again as well as playing around with makeup. The inspiration comes and goes but I always keep a sketch pad and my pencils and pens in my bag when I travel. It’s a good way for me to relax sometimes.  Well, it’s still early in our tour and though we will fly out of London, we have a tour around England, Scotland and Wales coming up! So stay tuned!
